2012 Martin Luther King, Jr. Arts and Essay Celebration

In partnership with the Office of General Services, the New York State Education Department (NYSED) has installed a new display of student art and essays reflecting the teachings of Martin Luther King, Jr. More than 3,000 submissions have arrived from public, charter, and technical schools throughout the State for this year's display. The student artwork and essays are developed and submitted under the guidance of Art and English teachers and include works by children and young adults from Kindergarten through high school.
The exhibit is open to the public and includes drawings, paintings, photography, sculptures, a very unique art installation, and student essays on aspects of King's legacy. Visitors to the area or schools wishing to see the exhibit can find the display in the South Concourse near the Madison Avenue entrance to the Empire State Plaza in Albany through February 2012.
The NYSED Office of Diversity, Ethics, and Access and the New York State Office of General Services, Office of Minority/Women-Owned Businesses & Community Relations invite the public to enjoy the creative enterprise of students and teachers on topics of peace, non-violence, and human rights.
