Organizational Effectiveness Group
Under the general supervision of the Education Commissioner and the Deputy Commissioner for Office of Operations and Management Services, the Organizational Effectiveness Group functions as the Department’s principal organizational development resource to executives, managers and staff in strategic planning, implementation of change initiatives, leadership development, performance measurement, customer service and work process improvements. Services include, but are not limited to: advanced facilitation for executive teams, external task forces and meetings; management of special projects; and leading teams working to improve work processes or solve difficult problems having department-wide significance.
The Office also oversees the Department’s emergency preparedness efforts. The Office of Emergency Preparedness is responsible for managing SED's responsibilities with the State Disaster Preparedness Commission, the State Emergency Management Office, and Homeland Security. This includes continuity of operations planning, compliance with the National Incident Management System, and the coordination of General Population Temporary Sheltering in the State Comprehensive Emergency Management Plan.
