Please note that, in accordance with the requirements of the grant program, each LEA submitting an application must provide its State at least 10 business days to comment on the application. As part of their application package, LEAs must provide: (a) the State’s comments or, if the State declines to comment, evidence that the LEA offered the State 10 business days to comment; and (b) the LEA’s response to the State’s comments (optional). (See http://www2.ed.gov/programs/racetothetop-district/faqs.pdf , question F2)
NYSED is the New York agency designated to review submissions to the RTTT-D competition. As part of this review, all applicants must prepare an EXECUTIVE SUMMARY of their application not to exceed three (3) pages that describes and demonstrates the application’s alignment to the Board of Regents Reform Agenda as follows:
- Implementation of the Common Core Standards, formative and benchmark assessments as well as instruction that is clearly based in the shifts of the Common Core
- Utilization of existing data systems and data to drive targeted changes in classroom instruction and building leadership which leads to improved student outcomes
- Leveraging evidence-based observations, targeted professional development and the APPR process in general to drive teacher and principal improvement
- Plan to turn around the lowest performing school and/or address the outcomes of student subgroups who consistently underperform academically
Please submit your EXECUTIVE SUMMARY and RTTT-D APPLICATION to RTTTDistrict@mail.nysed.gov by Friday, October 12, 2012. NYSED will acknowledge receipt, review your summary and anticipates providing you with a letter of support which will serve as official comment on your application within the 10 day comment period.
If you have any questions or concerns, please write to the RTTT District mailbox and you will receive a prompt reply.
