  1. Would it be likely for a response extension?

  2. Section 1.2 makes reference to an Instructional Reporting and Improvement System (IRIS) that NYSED is creating. Is the IRIS platform sourced from a 3rd party vendor? If so, can you name the vendor, technological framework, API,  and any 3rd party technologies leveraged to represent IRIS?

  3. What vendor technology, if any, is being utilized to provide your desired functionality of instructional reporting and collaboration?

  4. Are you able to provide the current state for each of these projects/platforms (IRIS and EDP), along with a list of major project milestones and their respective dates of completion, or to be completed?

  5. Based on the RFI we understand your requirement to integrate with the EDP however, will the individual schools, an operational data store (ODS), or a data warehouse serve as the source of date for the exchange vehicle?

  6. Will there be any conference calls or presentations?

  7. Is the Educational Data Portal (EDP) a system the State is currently building, or is this a project the State is researching potential vendors to build?

  8. Is the Electronic Record Exchange System project a subset of the EDP project wherein the State is interested in learning about vendor offerings?

    Answer: It is expected that an Electronic Record Exchange System will be implemented as an application integrated within the Educational Data Portal. The Educational Data Portal platform features are described in the Electronic Record Exchange System RFI, section 1.2 PROJECT CONTEXT.

  9. Please define record types and what type of data is the State interested in transmitting?

    Answer: Electronic student record exchange will provide a current and standardized vehicle to communicate specific elements of students’ records to and among schools and universities.  The list of student-level specific data elements for inclusion is being determined, but will include student demographic, building/district/course enrollment, programs, and assessment information. 

  10. What data exchange standards are preferred for the system? You reference EDI, but we are wondering if you are also interested in XML?

    Answer: Responses are invited to include all pertinent information on successful data exchange standard, though the RFI states an interest in the EDI standards.

  11. How does the state define integration with the EDP? (is it single sign on, harvesting data from records transactions and storing it in a data warehouse, providing student/parent/educator access to a history of records transactions, etc.)

    Answer: The Educational Data Portal platform features are described in the Electronic Record Exchange System RFI, section 1.2 PROJECT CONTEXT. The EDP Software (including the platform, data models, data marts, and initial applications) will be non-proprietary, feature a software development kit, and potentially be maintained by NYSED or its assignee/contractor after its completion.  The EDP will include an open Application Programming Interface (API) that will enable third-party developers to create and distribute new software applications for stakeholder use.  Additional information is not currently available.

  12. What are the time frames for completion of EDP and IRIS stated in the RFI?
