Scaffolding for English Language Learners (ELL) in NYS’s P-12 ELA and Math Curriculum

Description

The New York State Education Department (“NYSED”) is seeking proposals for applicants with English Language Learner curriculum and instruction expertise to provide feedback on ELA and math curriculum vendor draft scaffolds, guide the development of these vendor scaffolds through creating sample prototypes, and conduct in person sessions with curriculum vendors/developers on research and best practice for scaffolding instruction for ELLs. The purpose is to ensure that the ELL scaffolds in NYS’s curriculum are uniform across P-12 in ELA and Math curriculum modules, and is based on research and best practice.

The eligible applicants are: Local Education Agencies (“LEAs”); Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (“BOCES”); public or private Institutions of Higher Education (“IHEs”); systems of public IHE’s, so long as the particular institutions participating in the project, and the services each institution will provide, are identified in the proposal; not-for-profit and for-profit organizations, companies or agencies. Current NYSED P-12 ELA and Math curriculum development vendors are not eligible applicants. For the purposes of this RFP, an LEA is defined as a school district or a charter school.

NYSED will award one (1) contract with a term of approximately 12 months, beginning on May 17, 2013 and ending on May 16, 2014.
